Theoverallaimofthecurriculumornine-yearcompulsoryeducationistodevelopstudents’comprehensiveabilitiesinlanguageuse.Suchabilitiesaregroundedinthedevelopmentoflanguageskills,languageknowledge,affects,culturalawarenessandlearningstrategies.TheEnglishcurriculumfornine-yearcompulsoryeducationtogetherwiththerelatedseniorhighschoolEnglishcurriculumdividestheEnglishteachingobjectivesintoninelevels.Eachlevelisdescribedintermsofwhatstudentscandowiththelanguage.Itisthusdesignedtoreflecttheprogressivenatureofstudents’languagedevelopmentduringtheprocessofschooleducationsoastoensuretheintegrity,flexibilityandopennessofthecurriculum.
