杭州西子湖四季酒店设计开始于2004年。基地位于灵隐路原金沙港文化村，环抱“西进”之西湖，有较好的绿化和水系。近处，与西湖十景之“曲苑风荷”相依，沐水泽氤氲之灵；远处，隔湖与南高峰诸山相望，得悠然见南山之意。
酒店的空间形式借鉴了传统江南园林的风格，但并不拘泥于此。在设计中，我们着重强化西湖如画的意境，努力为她营造新的风景，将发掘和延续自然景观作为酒店规划的出发点，由此衍生出建筑和庭院空间的整体逻辑构架。
由“入口庭院—大堂—泳池—叠水—湖面—别墅区客房—远山”串成的景观主轴是构架的核心。大堂作为酒店主体，位于轴线端部，客房部分沿两翼展开，建筑与庭院，虚实相间。餐饮宴会区在东侧沿内湖一路铺展，中餐厅、包厢等结合游廊布置，移步易景。园中山水以原有环境为基础作调整，叠山引水，栽花种木。别墅区相对独立，分两组街坊布置，街巷空间层次深远。别墅单体有前后院落，前庭整肃，后院闲适。
在建筑本体的构造上，木作、瓦作、石作部分我们基本沿用传统苏式做法，其他装饰细节则重新设计，手法克制，形式简洁，意匠兼备。
ThedesignoftheFourSeasonsHotelHangzhouatWestLakestartedin2004.Embracingthewesternbank,thesiteislocatedattheculturalvillageofJinshaHarbouronLingyinRoadandcoveredbyrichgreeneryandwatersystem.Onthenearside,thereisoneofthetoptensceneriesoftheWestLake“theBreezeatCrookedCourtyard”withbeautifulwaterfeatures.Onthefarside,thesouthmountainsarerightacrossthelake.
ThespacedesignofthehotelborrowsthetraditionalJiangnangardenstylebutisnotlimitedbyit.Weaddnewlandscapeinanefforttoenrichtheexisting"picturesque"artisticconception.Westartwithdiscoveringandextendinglandscapeelementsintheoverallplanningandderivetheframeworkofthedesignconceptwhichisabouttherelationshipsbetweenthebuildingcomplexandthecourtyardspaces.
Theentrancecourtyard,lobby,swimmingpool,waterfall,lake,hotelvillasandmountainsaretheorderedelementsonthemainlandscapeaxis.Thelobby,asthevitalpartofthehotel,sitsatthestartpoint.Itstwowingsaretheguestroomswithcourtyardswhichareintegratedinbetweentocreatedifferentspacerhythm.Restaurantsandbanquethallarespreadoutalonginnersideofthelakeontheeastside.TheChineserestaurantandprivatediningroomsareconnectedbyverandas,whichprovidechangingscenerywiththemovingsteps.Inthegardens,thehillsandpondsareslightlyreformedandnewplantsareintroduced.Thevillas,locatedinarelativelyprivatearea,aredesignedintotwoneighborhoodswithlayeredspace.Eachindividualvillahastwocourtyardswithdifferentfeatures,asoberfrontyardandacasualbackyard.
Asforthebuildings,traditionalSu-styledconstructiontechniquesareappliedinthewood,rooftilesandstoneworks,butotherdecorationsarere-designedwithsimplifiedtechniquesanddetails.
Longerdesignandconstructioncyclesoftheprojectprovidethedesignteamwithmoretimetostudyandsolveproblems.Thecollaborationwiththeinternationallyfamedinteriorandlandscapedesignfirmsbringalotofexcitementtotheproject.ItistheonsitesupervisionthroughoutthewholeconstructionperiodbytheFourSeasonsHotelsGroup,GreentownDesignGroupandthemanagementteamthatfinallygivesareallifetothehotel.
