BecauseofTFF’snearbylocationinDallas,UTDhasdevelopedalargeandactivefurrycommunitywhichfrequentlyholdsmeetupsandsocialevents.Large-scaleconventionssuchasTFF,however,arevitaltoUTD’sfurriesbyprovidingmorefreedomandopportunitiesthanlocalgatherings.

Gerhartsaidhisjourneyintothefurrycommunitybeganinhighschool,whereafriendhelpedhimcreatehisfursona,oranimalcharacterpersona.HebeganattendingUTDin2019,joiningitsfurrycommunitybeforebecomingoneofitsunofficialleaders.
