Then,onenightwhileIwascookingwithafriendandmydaughter,Ninasuddenly—withaflashofteethandahigh-pitchedscreech—jumpedupandsnappedatAddieassheleapedup,terrified.IquicklyblockedNinafromattackingAddie,andNinabitme,pinchingtheskinonmyhandintoaredstreak,withoutdrawingblood.MyfriendandIwereshaken,mydaughterintears.IputNinainabedroom,andshutthedoor.IcradledAddie,relievedshewasfine.
